    Jade Lugo became a researcher almost by accident. Now, the Kennesaw State 2021 biochemistry graduate has secured a postbaccalaureate research position with the National Institutes of Health (NIH). Lugo, who had pursued several majors before deciding that she wanted to be a neuroscientist, will participate in NIH’s Postbaccalaureate Intramural Research Training Award program, which allows college graduates pursuing advanced degrees to spend one to two years conducting biomedical research with leading NIH scientists.

    Three Kennesaw State alumni receive Fulbright awards

    Jaylen Jackson developed a love of languages as a Kennesaw State University student, and now he has received a Fulbright grant to continue toward his career goal of teaching English as a second language to adults. “Being a Fulbright recipient gives me a great opportunity to get experience and pursue my dream,” said Jackson, who will serve as an English teaching assistant at a university in Brazil for one year starting in March. “I know that a Fulbright is difficult to get, so I’m honored to be part of it.” Jackson, who graduated last year with an integrative studies degree, is one of three Kennesaw State alumni recently awarded a Fulbright to study or teach abroad.

    Kennesaw State's new business incubator funds six high-tech projects

    Six innovative technology startups formed by Kennesaw State students and alumni are now one step closer to thousands of dollars in funding, having cleared the first milestone in the University’s Igniting New Companies (INC) business incubator. Supported by the Mookerji Innovation Fund – a $120,000 gift to Kennesaw State from technology entrepreneurs Sid and Sophie Mookerji – the INC invites students and alumni from across the University to apply for funding and development assistance for their tech-based businesses.
